Consumer Protection Act - The direct marketing “cooling-off” period
In terms of Section 16 of the CPA, if a consumer has bought goods as a result of direct marketing,
then for a period of 7 days after placing and paying for their order of the goods, the consumer can:
* cancel the entire order and receive a full refund, on receipt by the supplier of a bank certified copy,
direct from the consumers bankers, of the original EFT Payment clearly showing from which specific
bank account the money emanated from …
* or alternatively on receipt of an official letter from a Registered Attorney indicating the banking
details of an Attorney Trust Account, to which the original payment can be refunded and transferred
to, on behalf of the consumer … 
This provision is the protect both the consumer and supplier from possible fraudulent transactions and actions, by third parties …
Consumer Protection Act - Goods which have not been seen before purchase
In terms of Section 20 of the CPA, if a consumer has not had the opportunity to examine or inspect the actual goods received before purchase, they are entitled to inspect the goods on delivery. If on this initial inspection they find that:
* the goods do not meet the ‘type’ or ‘quality’ they could reasonably expect from the agreement; or …I
* if the goods where made in terms of a special or ‘custom’ order, and the goods do not reasonably conform to the specifications of the order, then:
* the consumer can cancel the entire order and refuse delivery …
* receive a full refund, on receipt of the returned goods by the supplier …
* the consumer agrees to pay the costs to return the goods to the supplier …
* all subject to the provisions contained in ‘The direct marketing “cooling-off” period …
